This painting, "Engadin Switzerland", was greatly influenced by the French painter, Jean -Baptiste-Camille Corot. I have been studying the landscape painters from a wonderful program on European TV that shows the complete works of the best pre-modern painters of Europe.
Corot, as well as many of the other French landscape painters would push the color to achieve a dramatic effect.

The many roads that wind all through the Alsace Lorraine Valley are lined with various tree, forests with wide open vistas of
farmland that stretch from the Rhine River to the Vosges Mountains.
The Poplar trees are all through the Valley, and along many of the small roads.

The road that follows along side the Rhine River has been called, "The Romantic Rhine River Rd" for centuries. This road
runs along the Rhine, and passes through many charming villages, forests and farmland.

We have been spending time going up to the Engadine Valley Switzerland as well as exploring the Alsace Lorraine Valley where we
live.
These two paintings are of the two locations.

This painting, "Julier Pass Swiss Alps", is the view coming down from the summit of Julier Pass. We use this pass to get up to
the Engadin Valley, Switzerland where we love staying at my wife, Seraina's, Mother's home where she was born and raised .
The Engadin Valley is a beautiful wide valley with lakes and streams perfect for fly fishing for trout.
