The title "Topa Topa from lower Sulfur Mr. Rd." tells all concerning the location. Sulfur Mt. is in the upper Ojai Valley, or Happy Valley as it is also called.

This view is from the foothills of the Eastern Sierras across the lower Owens Valley to the Inyo Mountain Range. The time is around 7:00 AM, late spring. You can see a bit of the Alabama Hills in the far middle ground.

A few years back, while traveling through Japan I happen across 3 little paintings of a section of stream that had a similar composition as this painting, "Ventura River Silted". The water was muddy, and was the color of tapioca pudding. The storms that hammered us here in Ojai, ca turned the Ventura River water a soupy tapioca color.
