The CARRIZO PLAIN is a wonderful large enclosed grassland plain, approximately 50 miles long and up to 15 miles across. It is the largest single native grassland remaining in California.

The Inyo Mountains are mostly barren of trees with very little vegetation which lays bare the many
strata of mineral layers. Golden hour lights up these layers, and is a visual treat to be sure. This painting is from accross Diaz Lake, Lone Pine area of the Owens Valley.
